Our Purpose

Cooperation Canada is the national voice and network for Canadian international development and humanitarian organizations.

We bring together more than 100 organizations to coordinate efforts, share expertise and speak with a unified voice on the policies and issues that shape international cooperation.

Since 1968, Cooperation Canada (formerly the Canadian Council for International Cooperation) has united civil society organizations dedicated to international development and humanitarian action.

As a national network, we connect and work alongside diverse Canadian and global partners across civil society, government, philanthropy, the private sector and academia. Our role is to bring people and evidence together, strengthen collective influence and support the conditions that enable meaningful, principled impact in international cooperation.

We aim to:

  • Represent our members to government and decision-makers

  • Advocate with a unified voice for effective, inclusive and accountable international cooperation

  • Convene diverse actors to collaborate and share knowledge

  • Provide learning opportunities to transform international cooperation and maximize impact opportunities

Our Mission

Cooperation Canada is the national independent voice for international cooperation. As a coalition, we convene, coordinate and collaborate with Canadian civil society to inspire and implement policies and programs for a fairer, more sustainable and safer world.

Our Vision

We aspire to a world in which global poverty and inequality are eradicated, human rights are respected and protected, gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment are achieved and climate action and environmental sustainability are realized – for all people everywhere.
